Medical Laboratory Technologist, Hematology and Flow Cytometry

Join to apply for the Medical Laboratory Technologist, Hematology and Flow Cytometry role at Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto), Sinai Health .

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to support our Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Hematology, and Flow Cytometry Department at Mount Sinai Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of Hematology and Flow Cytometry methodologies, with the ability to perform accurate and precise analytical testing, demonstrating competency and accountability.

Responsibilities include :

  • Performing analytical testing on patient samples manually or with automated equipment according to established protocols.
  • Ensuring accuracy of results and proper documentation.
  • Communicating critical results to physicians or relevant units.
  • Conducting quality control, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures; reporting unresolved issues to senior staff.
  • Performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and documenting activities.
  • Managing specimen processing, adhering to SOPs.
  • Maintaining safety standards and assisting in training new staff or students.
  • Managing workload efficiently, including urgent and STAT tests, and rotating through various workstations and shifts.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Recent experience in Hematology and Flow Cytometry.

Skills and Attributes :

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Good attendance and work performance record.

Note : Employment is conditional upon demonstrating visual colour discrimination ability relevant to the job.
