Job summary

Interior Health is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the Boundary District Hospital lab in Grand Forks, B.C. This permanent full-time role involves working in a team-based environment under supervision, performing a variety of tests with manual and automated instruments, and supporting LIS data entry and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Performs a variety of routine and/or complex tests using manual procedures and automated instruments.
  • Goes on to greet patients, collect and receive specimens, enter data into LIS and related systems, validate and report results.
  • Participates in departmental training across microbiology, histology and cytology to learn new tests and procedures.

About The Job

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, Professional Practice Leader or other designated personnel, the Medical Laboratory Technologist works in a team‑based environment as part of a general supervision. The role involves performing a variety of routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments within the laboratory. Responsibilities also include greeting patients, collecting and receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and related computer systems, validating and reporting test results, maintaining instruments, and preparing solutions and control agents in accordance with established procedures and safety standards. The technologist participates in departmental training programs across all sections of the lab, including microbiology, histology and cytology, to learn new or existing tests and procedures.

Position Details

This is a permanent full‑time (1.0) position. Work shifts are scheduled on rotating days, evenings and nights.
