Island Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant dedicated to high-quality laboratory services. The role involves blood collection, specimen preparation, and performing tests such as ECGs. Candidates must possess Grade 12 education, relevant training, and strong communication skills. Experience in similar settings is preferred.

The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics (LMPMG) is dedicated to enhancing patient care through high-quality laboratory services.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Chief Technologist, or designate, the Medical Laboratory Assistant performs laboratory procedures and related clerical duties. Responsibilities include blood and specimen collection, preparing samples for analysis, distributing and storing samples, performing laboratory tests such as urinalysis with colour-coded dipsticks, and conducting Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing as required.
Travel may be required for this position, and transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority according to the service assignment.
Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, and one (1) year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid BC Class 5 Vehicle Licence.
