A leading health authority is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to perform essential laboratory procedures and clerical duties. The role involves specimen collection, sample preparation, and conducting tests like ECGs. Candidates should possess effective communication skills and a Grade 12 diploma, along with relevant training. This position emphasizes patient care and safety, requiring a valid BC Class 5 Vehicle Licence.

The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics (LMPMG) is committed to enhancing patient care through the provision of high-quality laboratory services.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Chief Technologist, or designate, the Medical Laboratory Assistant performs laboratory procedures and related clerical duties. Responsibilities include blood and specimen collection, preparing samples for analysis, distribution and storage of samples, performing laboratory tests such as urinalysis using colour-coded dipsticks, and conducting Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing when required.
Travel may be required for this position, and transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority according to the service assignment.
