Job summary

Northern Health - BC is seeking a registered Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Laboratory department at University Hospital Of Northern BC (UHNBC). You will perform specimen collection, preparation and testing, and conduct ECG/ Holter testing as required, under supervision.

The position includes rotating shifts and on-site work in Prince George. UHNBC is a major acute care facility serving Northern BC, with opportunities for professional development, moving support, and comprehensive

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered Medical Laboratory Assistant.
  • Experience in specimen collection, preparation and testing.
  • Ability to perform inpatient and/or outpatient ECG testing and Holter monitoring.

Job description

Are you a registered Medical Laboratory Assistant looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Laboratory department.

Under the supervision of the Chief Technologist or designate, the Laboratory Assistant performs specimen collection, preparation and testing, and performs related clerical and other laboratory support functions. Performs inpatient and/or outpatient Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing, and/or Holter monitor testing as required, and explains test procedures. Performs routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings - 05:00 to 13:00, 06:00 to 14:00, 07:30 to 15:30, 08:00 to 16:00, 13:00 to 21:00, Rotating

University Hospital Of Northern BC (UHNBC) Is The Largest Acute Care Facility Within The Northern Health Region, And a Hub For Specialized Health Services. It's Also a Teaching Hospital

  • Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, run by the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia.
