Job summary

Northern Health in Fort St. John, Canada, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to bring strong work ethic to our Laboratory department.

Under supervision, you will perform specimen collection, preparation and testing, and provide related clerical and laboratory support. You may perform inpatient and outpatient ECG testing and Holter monitor testing as required, with routine equipment cleaning and maintenance, contributing to accurate and timely patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience with specimen collection, preparation and testing.
• Experience or ability to perform inpatient/outpatient ECG testing and Holter monitoring.
• Basic equipment cleaning and maintenance.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Laboratory Assistant performs specimen collection, preparation and testing, and performs related clerical and other laboratory support functions.

Performs inpatient and/or outpatient Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, and/or Holter monitor testing as required, and explains test procedures. Performs routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, 06:00 to 14:00, 07:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 16:00, 12:00 to 20:00, 13:00 to 21:00, 16:00 to 00:00 (rotating)
