You will ensure regulatory compliance, participate in proficiency testing, and contribute to continuous improvement while maintaining confidentiality and safety.

Qualifications

• Registration through CAMLPR pathways or CSMLS certification is required.
• Recent experience in the relevant laboratory discipline is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with MS Windows-based systems and laboratory software.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical testing and release accurate patient results per protocols.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analyzers and equipment.
• Conduct quality control and investigate discrepancies.
• Validate reagent lots and support new methods/ instrumentation.
• Use LIS for specimen processing, test management and reporting.
• Participate in proficiency testing and post-upgrade validations.
• Maintain specimen handling, storage, and test-specific protocols.
• Ensure compliance with safety, WHMIS and chemical hygiene rules.
• Support training, documentation updates and process improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologists to perform clinical testing, quality control, and analyzer maintenance to ensure accurate and timely patient results across laboratory disciplines. The successful candidate will uphold laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Status: Permanent, Full Time Float (37.5 hours per week)
Discipline: Core Microbiology (Employees may be cross trained in different departments).
Shift: Variable hours between 0500-0030;Variable Sunday through Saturday - may change with operational needs.
Additional Information: Experience within the last 5 years in Microbiology preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform clinical testing and release accurate patient results in accordance with established protocols.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment.
• Conduct and monitor quality control procedures; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Validate new reagent lots and support implementation of new methods and instrumentation.
• Utilize laboratory information systems for specimen processing, test management, and result reporting.
• Participate in external proficiency testing and post‑software upgrade validations.
• Maintain expertise in specimen handling, critical values, rejection criteria, storage requirements, and test-specific protocols.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, safety policies, WHMIS, and chemical hygiene regulations.
• Support team effectiveness through training, documentation updates, and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

Qualifications:

• Registration through CAMLPR pathways or certification with CSMLS.
