Job summary

This is a permanent, casual role with variable shifts, accommodating 0 to 37.5 hours weekly. Experience in mid-low chemistry and proficiency with LIS and Windows-based lab software will be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Registration through CAMLPR pathways or CSMLS certification is required.
• Recent experience in the relevant laboratory discipline preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Windows-based systems and laboratory software.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical testing and release accurate patient results.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analyzers and equipment.
• Conduct and monitor quality control procedures and resolve discrepancies.
• Validate new reagent lots and support new methods implementation.
• Use LIS for specimen processing, test management, and reporting.
• Participate in external proficiency testing and post-upgrade validations.
• Maintain specimen handling, storage, and test-specific protocols.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety, WHMIS, and chemical hygiene regulations.
• Support training, documentation updates, and process improvement.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

The successful candidate will uphold laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Status: Permanent, Casual (between 0 and 37.5 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform clinical testing and release accurate patient results in accordance with established protocols.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment.
• Conduct and monitor quality control procedures; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Validate new reagent lots and support implementation of new methods and instrumentation.
• Utilize laboratory information systems for specimen processing, test management, and result reporting.
• Participate in external proficiency testing and post‑software upgrade validations.
• Maintain expertise in specimen handling, critical values, rejection criteria, storage requirements, and test‑specific protocols.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, safety policies, WHMIS, and chemical hygiene regulations.
• Support team effectiveness through training, documentation updates, and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
