Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. This part-time night shift role (11pm–7am) supports patient care and delivers accurate results in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires Abbott Alinity or analyzer experience, chemistry background, WHMIS training, and an ASAP start date. You will perform manual and automated testing, enter data, and uphold safety and confidentiality in a team setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and WHMIS training.
• Registered Laboratory Assistant (OSMT) optional.
• Prior laboratory experience preferred (Chemistry).
• Experience with handling biohazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a diverse range of lab tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
• Follow specimen handling requirements and LifeLabs procedures.
• Data entry of specimens and triage testing.
• Perform manual and automated testing under supervision of a medical laboratory technologist.
• Address QA indicators and escalate issues as needed.
• Identify incidents and non-conformances; escalate appropriately.
• Conduct and record instrument/equipment maintenance at defined intervals.
• Prepare and utilize reagents and controls using defined procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Monitor and maintain adequate lab supplies.
• Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment.
• Handle biohazardous and routine waste per EHS procedures.
• Work to protect your health and safety and that of others.

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This is an important role in patient care and our business. This role will allow you to see the difference that you make in patients’ lives.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Responsible for carrying out a diverse range of work activities; ensure all duties and responsibilities are prioritized and handled with accuracy and efficiency providing quality results
• Demonstrate knowledge of specimen handling requirements and prioritization of specimens and results, following LifeLabs Procedures
• Data entry of specimens, while triaging testing as appropriate.
• Perform manual and automated testing in accordance with LifeLabs Procedures under the direct supervision of a medical laboratory technologist
• Perform procedures required to address Quality Assurance indicators as defined, consulting with resources where necessary
• Identify incidents and non-conformances; escalation as appropriate
• Conduct and record instrument/equipment maintenance at appropriate, defined intervals
• Prepare and utilize reagents and controls using defined procedures
• Ensure confidentiality of patient information

What you will bring to the role:

• High School diploma
• WHMIS training
