Providence Health Care in Vancouver is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for the St. Paul’s Hospital site.

You will decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and distribute medical devices and instrument sets for the Operating Room and clinical units, maintaining an efficient CASE CART workflow. The role requires Grade 12, completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing course, and one year of related experience.

• Grade 12 education and completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing course.
• One year's recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.

Mansioni

• Cleans, decontaminates, assembles, wraps, sterilizes and distributes medical devices, supplies and equipment for the Operating Room and other areas.
• Checks, assembles, packages, sterilizes and distributes instrument sets and equipment for operative procedures using case cart system.
• Picks and distributes instrument sets, supplies and equipment for operative procedures.

• Cleans and decontaminates medical devices, supplies and equipment used within the Operating Room, Nursing Units, Endoscopy Unit (at designated sites) and other designated areas of the hospital by following prescribed procedures using manual and mechanical techniques.
• Checks, assembles, packages, sterilizes and distributes medical devices, supplies and equipment including procedure trays used by the OR and Clinical Units.
• Picks and distributes instrument sets, supplies and equipment for operative procedures utilizing case cart system according to established procedures.
• Maintains an effective OR request system by responding to urgent requests from the OR for additional items required during surgical procedures.
• Performs clerical duties as required such as answering the phone and record keeping.
• Maintains an orderly and safe work environment following departmental safety procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
