ARC provides a full range of fertility services including investigations, surgery, IUI, IVF, ICSI, pre-implantation genetic testing, egg/sperm freezing, and early prenatal support. We are located on the West End of Edmonton, conveniently just off the Anthony Henday.

As the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician you will use your knowledge of infection control principles and medical aseptic techniques to ensure the appropriate level of sterility of reusable medical devices and equipment entrusted to your care. You will ensure clean, disinfected, properly assembled and sterile and/or high level disinfected reusable medical devices and equipment are readily available to the entire clinic.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Receive, sort, disassemble, decontaminate, clean, assemble, wrap, sterilize and store instruments.
  • Perform designated cleaning duties, restocks shelves, cupboards and carts according to established written policies/procedures
  • Documenting and reporting on activities within the MDR area, including tracking and labelling as needed, as well as ensuring inventory is up to date by closely monitoring available equipment and restocking where necessary
  • Familiarity with techniques, products and machinery used to safely decontaminate specialized instruments
  • Providing clinical leadership, guidance, and applicable training to co-workers pertaining to MDR activities to ensure full compliancy to all relevant policies, procedures, and standards
  • You have the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Maintaining effective communication and working relationship with patients and ARC staff.
  • Participating in a culture of patient safety by focusing on practices that reduce and eliminate prescription incidents as well as reporting and properly managing those incidents that do occur.
  • Maintaining the utmost confidentiality with all patients.
  • Abiding by and following ARC’s policies and procedures.

Qualification & Licensures

  • Completed a recognized Sterile Processing Technician or a Medical Device Reprocessing program
  • Provincial certification
  • 1 year experience in a fertility centre is an asset
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Licensure with the CSA (Canadian Standards Association)

Experience, Skills & Abilities

  • 1 year experience in a fertility clinic is an asset.

  • Ability to work as a team and individually.
