Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant or LPN to support clinical operations in a busy outpatient setting. You will assist providers, document in the EMR, and help manage patient flow to ensure high-quality care.

Role emphasizes patient-centered care, compliance with OSHA/CLIA, and teamwork across a multidisciplinary staff. It is a full-time, onsite position with standard daytime hours in Largo, FL.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; MA program or related technical training preferred.
• Experience: Two years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Approved Medical Assistant Certification within six months of hire OR active license/certification as EMT, NREMT, Paramedic, or LPN.
• Externship experience is encouraged and should be listed on application and resume.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Obtain patient histories and prepare patients for visits.
• Perform routine lab procedures and prepare specimens for transport to the lab.
• Follow up on test orders and communicate results to providers and patients.
• Maintain patient education materials and EMR records.
• Maintain medical equipment and clinical supplies.
• Ensure OSHA and CLIA compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Overview

As a Medical Assistant or LPN, you will support clinical operations by assisting providers and delivering high‑quality patient care while ensuring efficient workflows within the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments
• Obtaining patient histories and preparing patients for visits
• Performing routine lab procedures and preparing specimens for transport to the lab
• Following up on test orders and communicating results to providers and patients
• Maintaining patient education materials
• Creating and updating patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Maintaining medical equipment and clinical supplies
• Ensuring compliance with OSHA and CLIA regulations
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Preferred: Completion of a Medical Assistant program or related technical training

Experience

• Preferred: Two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience

Licensure / Certification

• Required: Approved Medical Assistant Certification within six (6) months of hire OR proof of active license/certification as one of the following:
• EMT (Emergency Medical Technician)
• NREMT (Nationally Recognized Emergency Medical Technician)
• Paramedic
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
