Job summary

The Yukon Arts Centre in Whitehorse is seeking a creative Media and Engagement Co-ordinator for a defined term from September 1 to December 18, 2026. The role supports marketing, digital communications, audience engagement and front-of-house activities across performances, gallery exhibitions, outreach programs and the permanent art collection.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, business administration, arts administration or a related field.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, digital media, administration, customer service, audience services or arts administration.
  • Be A Responsible Server – Liquor (BARS-L) certification is required.
  • Experience with CHATGPT, social media, photography, basic video production and website content management.
  • Experience with Spektrix, Tessitura or another ticketing or CRM system is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule and publish social media content.
  • Capture or co-ordinate photography and short-form video.
  • Update website content, event listings and digital assets.
  • Produce and co-ordinate posters, advertisements, newsletters, event programs and exhibition materials.
  • Prepare creative briefs and work with photographers, videographers, designers, printers and website contractors.
  • Monitor digital analytics and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain organized digital media and project records.
  • Help communicate the Yukon Arts Centre’s programs and community impact.
  • Provide welcoming and professional service to patrons, artists and visitors.
  • Assist with ticketing, patron entry, seating, accessibility needs and general event inquiries.
  • Support event setup, signage, volunteers, bar or merchandise operations and post-event reporting as required.
  • Follow established safety and emergency procedures and refer significant concerns to management.
  • Assist with reports, correspondence, presentations, contracts, invoices and grant or sponsorship reporting.
  • Maintain organized contractor, project and event records.
  • Provide general administrative and cross-departmental support as required.

Position Overview

The Yukon Arts Centre is seeking a creative and organized Media and Engagement Co-ordinator to support marketing, digital communications, audience engagement and front-of-house activities for performances, gallery exhibitions, outreach programs and the permanent art collection.
The position creates engaging content, maintains digital platforms, supports marketing projects and helps provide a welcoming experience for patrons. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic arts environment.
This new position is being offered on a trial basis for the defined term so the Yukon Arts Centre can assess its operational fit and future requirements. Following this review, the position may be extended, revised or considered for an ongoing or full-time role, subject to organizational needs and approval.

Key Responsibilities
Media, Marketing and Engagement

Qualifications
  • Diploma or certificate in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, business administration, arts administration or a related field.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, digital media, administration, customer service, audience services or arts administration.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with CHATGPT, social media, photography, basic video production and website content management.
  • Ability to create promotional materials using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to provide courteous, inclusive and professional customer service.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and remain calm during busy public events.
  • Experience with Spektrix, Tessitura or another ticketing or CRM system is an asset.
  • Experience in a performing arts venue, gallery, festival, touring organization or cultural organization is an asset.
  • Be A Responsible Server – Liquor (BARS-L) certification is required.
Schedule and Working Conditions

Regular hours will be scheduled between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. A minimum of six hours per week is guaranteed, with up to 12 hours per week scheduled according to operational needs.
Occasional weekday evening and weekend work will be required for performances, exhibitions and special events. These hours will form part of the employee’s scheduled weekly hours.
Duties may involve standing for extended periods, setting up signs and displays, using a ladder, moving tables or chairs, and lifting or carrying boxes, supplies and marketing materials.
