Job summary

AXYZ CNC Routers in Waterdown, Ontario, is hiring a Mechatronics Engineer to develop next-generation CNC machinery and automation systems. You will blend mechanical, electrical, and controls design, prototype on the shop floor, and advance the A2MC motion controller.

The role emphasizes taking concepts to working machines, with hands-on engineering, collaboration with production teams, and design reviews to improve motion performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, CNC, or automated systems.
  • Proven experience with CNC machines, industrial automation, and electromechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with PLC programming and machine controls.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Understanding of sensors, actuators, motors, drives, pneumatic components, and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical assemblies, machine structures, and guarding for CNC and automation systems.
  • Create 3D CAD models, detail drawings, and BOMs.
  • Select materials and standard machine components.
  • Design and specify pneumatic circuits and components.
  • Define electrical system requirements including motors, drives, sensors, pneumatic I/O, and actuators.
  • Collaborate on PLC, servo, and HMI integration for existing and next-generation motion controllers.
  • Review electrical schematics, wiring layouts, and panel design.
  • Assemble and test prototypes on the shop floor.
