Job summary

L.A. Hébert Ltée in Quebec is seeking a Mechanical Team Leader for the evening shift to supervise a workshop of heavy equipment technicians. You will organize daily tasks, ensure high-quality work, and maintain HSE standards while coordinating with operations to maximize equipment availability.

Ideal candidates hold a mechanics DEP and 5–10 years of experience, with proven leadership and strong communication. Schedule: 4 evenings per week, Monday to Thursday, in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• DEP in construction equipment mechanics, heavy vehicle mechanics, or a related field—and/or equivalent experience.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in heavy equipment or heavy vehicle mechanics.
• Experience in supervision, coordination, or team management.
• PEP (Preventive Maintenance Program) certification and/or experience with SAAQ mechanical inspections (a plus).
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 3 is a plus).
• Strong ability to organize and manage priorities.
• Inspiring leadership and the ability to motivate a team.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Sense of initiative, independence, and team spirit.
• Constant attention to the quality of work and the availability of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Establish repair and maintenance priorities based on operational needs.

• Participate in staff evaluations and the identification of training needs.
• Coordinate the work of external suppliers and subcontractors.
• Research and order the parts needed for the work.
• Ensure effective communication with operations teams to maximize equipment availability.
• Participate in continuous improvement and in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
• Contribute to the completion of mechanical work to support the team and ensure that operational priorities are met.
