Job Summary

Our Winnipeg Branch is currently seeking Mechanical Services Lead to oversee the execution and coordination of mechanical service work. This role bridges field operations and sales by leading installation crews, conducting site and equipment assessments, managing labor resources, and supporting business development through technical consultation, proposal development, and project bidding.

Key Responsibilities:
Field Operations and Technical Oversight
  • Directs and participates in mechanical service work.
  • Supervises on-site crew activities, ensuring all work meets company safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Conducts field assessments, including conveyor system inspections and belt surveys, producing detailed reports with actionable findings.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs for customer sites to support long-term equipment performance.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of field service activities, site conditions, and safety incidents.
Sales Support and Customer Interface
  • Coordinates with sales personnel to scope projects, evaluate site conditions, and identify customer needs.
  • Assists in the development of service offerings and solutions aligned with customer operations and maintenance requirements.
  • Prepares and presents belt survey reports and service recommendations directly to customers.
  • Assists in the development of cost estimates, technical proposals, and responses to RFPs for mechanical service work.
  • Participates in sales duties including follow-up with prospects, onsite consultation, and communication of service capabilities.
Project Bidding and Proposal Development
  • Leads the preparation of bid packages and job cost estimates in coordination with sales and management teams.
  • Reviews site conditions, drawings, and specifications to identify labor, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and competitive pricing in submitted proposals.
Labor Management and Resource Coordination
  • Responsible for workforce planning related to field projects, including hiring and supervision of millwrights.
  • Coordinates with union halls or employment companies as needed to source supplemental labor for scheduled or emergency work.
  • Oversees time tracking, performance evaluations, and crew deployment in alignment with job schedules and budgets.
  • Ensures compliance with union agreements and company labor practices.
  • Manages Millwright Apprenticeship Program
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical service or maintenance, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and material handling systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and customers at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of service technicians.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other service management software.
