Job summary

Qualifications

  • Tertiary or technologist qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Trades qualification in Millwright or Heavy-Duty Equipment preferred.
  • Experience with reliability practices and maintenance governance is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Improve equipment maintenance through maintenance strategy development and governance.
  • Interface with functions across the business to support governance and optimization.
  • Provide technical expertise in mechanical systems and reliability practices.
  • Engage stakeholders to foster collaboration and informed decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with OEMs on product issues under global contracts and remediation clauses.

Job description

We are currently recruiting and seeking applications from highly motivated talent with experience in maintenance, engineering, or the resource industries who are interested in upcoming opportunities within the Maintenance team. This role is suited to a Mechanical Engineer, mechanical technologist, or mechanical maintenance professional with a strong reliability background who can help improve the way equipment is maintained through maintenance strategy development, governance, optimization, and product management. The successful candidate will work closely with other functions across the business, operational leadership teams, and sub-functions within the Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence, so strong communication, stakeholder engagement, influencing skills, and a willingness to travel are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Improve the way equipment is maintained through maintenance strategy development, governance, optimization, and product management.
  • Interface with other functions across the business, operational leadership teams, and the wider Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence.
  • Support maintenance strategy governance activities by contributing technical expertise in mechanical systems, fixed and mobile equipment, and reliability practices.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels to foster collaboration and support effective decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with equipment OEMs on potential product issues, leveraging global contractual agreements and product defect remediation clauses.
  • Apply problem‑solving, analytical thinking, and continuous improvement practices to generate business value and improve equipment performance.
  • Work effectively in ambiguous environments by creating clarity, making sound decisions, and managing change through influence.
  • Support collaboration across Engineering, Projects, and Operations by understanding how the maintenance ecosystem functions end‑to‑end.
  • Travel as required to support stakeholder engagement, governance activities, and operational alignment.
Qualifications
  • Have a proven track record of strong safety participation.
  • Be a team player who promotes and supports workplace diversity.
  • Ability to quickly build effective working rapport with stakeholders to influence decision‑making, negotiate positive outcomes, and ensure business and customer expectations are achieved.
  • Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity, create clarity, reach high‑quality decisions, and manage change through influence.
  • Ability to engage with equipment OEMs around potential product issues leveraging global contractual agreements and product defect remediation clauses.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills with the ability to apply critical thinking, curiosity, and creative problem‑solving to generate business value.
  • Understanding of how the maintenance ecosystem works across Engineering, Projects, and Operations.
  • Have a tertiary, technologist, or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Millwright, Heavy‑Duty Equipment, or a related mechanical discipline.
  • Be adaptive to change and demonstrate the ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple deliverables across stakeholders. Preferably bring expertise in Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), including FMECA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Asset Performance Management (APM), Downtime Accounting Systems (DAS), and CMMS systems such as 1SAP.
