Job summary

Newfoundland Power is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance (Apprentices May Apply) candidate to join our Operations Team in St. John's, NL. You will perform installation, inspection and preventative/corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment at hydro, diesel and gas turbine generation facilities, ensuring safe, reliable plant operation.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on maintenance experience, a valid driver's license and a commitment to safety. Residency within 40km of St.

Responsibilities

  • Performing installation, inspection and preventative/corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment associated with hydro, diesel and gas turbine generation facilities.
  • Completing inspection and maintenance reports and operating hydro, diesel and gas turbine plants when required.
  • Performing routine maintenance on all plant property and equipment including inspecting, painting, lubricating, penstock maintenance, vegetation clearing.
  • Assisting with major equipment and structure repairs.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of hydro, diesel and gas turbine facilities would be an asset.
  • Recent experience working in the trade is considered an asset.
  • You must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver’s license. Some travel is required.
  • You are a highly motivated team player with a strong commitment to safety and customer service, an excellent work ethic, and effective interpersonal and communication skills.

The Opportunity

As a valued member of our Operations Team at our St. John's, Duffy Place location, you will be responsible for the following:

There is a residency requirement for this position, whereby your primary residence must be within 40km of the St. John's, Duffy Place office.

Compensation is as per the current Collective Agreement.

Recent experience working in the trade is considered an asset.
