Job summary

Kelson Mechanical Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to drive growth, manage piping estimates, and prepare detailed takeoffs for diverse projects.

You will report to the CEO in a collaborative, team-based environment while developing robust, data-driven bid packages. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of piping estimator experience, strong AutoBid Mechanical skills, and advanced Excel/Access capabilities to support bid tracking, cost analyses and reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a mechanical piping estimator on institutional, commercial, industrial (ICI), healthcare, data center, and infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in Trimble AutoBid Mechanical, with demonstrated experience performing piping takeoffs and developing detailed estimates.
• Proficient in Microsoft Access, with experience managing estimating databases, bid tracking, and reporting functions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the development and maintenance of estimating spreadsheets, bid summaries, cost analyses, and reporting tools.
• Strong understanding of hydronic, steam, condensate, compressed air, natural gas, process piping, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to interpret and analyze mechanical drawings, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements to accurately assess project scope and identify potential risks, exclusions, and opportunities.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and consistently meet bid deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience obtaining, evaluating, and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations, with the ability to perform scope reviews and ensure complete and competitive pricing.
• Proven ability to identify value engineering opportunities and develop cost-effective solutions while maintaining compliance with project specifications and performance requirements.
• The Salary Range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000
