Working closely with engineering and operations teams, this role focuses on mechanical design support, testing and validation, process optimization, quality assurance, and technical documentation related to industrial manufacturing activities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and interpreting conventional and computer-assisted design (CAD) engineering drawings and specifications for machines, components, and automated production equipment.
  • Carry out mechanical tests and analyses of machines, components, and materials to determine performance, strength, and response to stress.
  • Assist in the design of moulds, tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in the inspection of mechanical installations, assemblies, and construction projects.
  • Participate in the installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Support functional testing, validation, and verification of automated and robotic food production equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production managers to develop, refine, and optimize manufacturing processes, workflows, and plant layouts.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives, including inspection procedures, non-conformance tracking, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Support prototype builds and low-to-medium volume production of ChronoGrill units and related automated equipment.
  • Support metal fabrication and mechanical assembly processes, including welding, bending, laser cutting, and precision assembly.
Education Requirements

Completion of a one- to two-year college, CEGEP, or other non-university program in mechanical engineering technology.

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in the following areas:

Technical & Manufacturing Requirements
  • Practical experience assembling, testing, and supporting robotic or automated electromechanical systems, including mechanical subassemblies, actuators, sensors, conveyors, and enclosure systems.
  • Working knowledge of stainless-steel fabrication for food-contact and near-food-contact components, including surface finish requirements, fastener selection, and cleanability considerations.
  • Hands-on experience working in a food-grade manufacturing or automated equipment environment, including awareness of hygienic design principles and contamination control.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication and precision mechanical assembly, including tolerance control and repeatability.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for robotic or automated equipment.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and low-to-medium volume production of complex machines.
Food Safety & Compliance Requirements
  • Understanding of food safety standards and regulatory requirements relevant to automated food equipment, including NSF/ANSI or equivalent sanitation standards (equipment design awareness).
  • Ability to support manufacturing processes that meet food-grade cleanliness, traceability, and documentation requirements.
Automation, Testing & Process Control
  • Experience assisting with functional testing, validation, and verification of automated or robotic food production equipment.
  • Experience setting up and monitoring process parameters for automated equipment (mechanical, thermal, or motion-related), under engineering guidance.
