British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Burnaby seeks a regular, full-time Assistant Instructor in Mechanical Engineering to provide lab and tutorial support. The role covers a broad range of mechanical engineering fundamentals and advanced topics, with emphasis on delivering quality curriculum and student engagement.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, strong CAD skills, and good communication.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related credential.
• Relevant industry experience in an engineering environment.
• Proficient in engineering computer applications including strong CAD skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English Language.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Machine shop skills are an asset.
• Instructional experience is an asset.
• Programming (C/C++/Python) experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• The successful applicant can expect to provide lab and tutorial assistance across a broad range of the mechanical engineering discipline.
• The applicant must have a strong commitment to teaching and interacting with students, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and an interest in delivering quality curriculum.
• The Assistant Instructor may lead labs and tutorials in some of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals, Engineering Graphics and CAD, Manual and CNC Machining, Mechatronics (Automation, Robotics), Microcontrollers, Industrial Control, PLCs.
