Stantec is offering an internship for a Mechanical Engineer student in Whitehorse to gain real-world experience within our Buildings group. You will work with experienced practitioners on challenging projects and develop practical design skills in a collaborative environment.

The role focuses on drafting, REVIT/AutoCAD work, and building systems design across Canada, with opportunities to learn codes, standards, and project workflows in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree at a Canadian university.
• Security clearance in Canada preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and collaborate.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, and sketches from design to construction.
• Produce mechanical designs and drawings in REVIT and AutoCAD.
• Assist in design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems across Canada.
• Review equipment selections and perform preliminary calculations.
• Ensure quality and adherence to project standards.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance.
• Conduct field surveys for drawing development and site reviews.
• Communicate with team members to meet deadlines.
