Stantec's Yukon office in Whitehorse is seeking an Intern Architect to join our Buildings practice. You will work on a range of projects from small commercial developments to municipal and community facilities, gaining hands-on experience in design, documentation and client collaboration.

Based in Whitehorse with occasional travel to northern communities, you will support project teams, assist in budgets and schedules, and contribute to building condition assessments and tender packages under

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture or related field.
• Registered or able to become registered within one year with a Canadian architect association
• LEED Green Associate or LEED AP, PMP, or related credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage tasks of varying complexity on multiple projects
• Effectively participate and help to win work in interviews for potential projects
• Plan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client
• Keep the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables
• Understand the limits of the decision-making responsibilities of the role and respect the boundaries of the Principal in Charge’s responsibilities
• Assist in the negotiation and development of project agreements
• Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance
• Assure that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented
• Lead or assist project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors
• Manage and track change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule
• Conduct peer review of deliverables, including Building Condition Assessments and Tender Documents
• Work with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommend personnel
• Travel to small communities to conduct building condition assessments or review construction progress
• Direct client invoicing and effectively manage collections
