Full-time Professional Mechanical Engineer
Location: Whitehorse, Yukon | Edmonton, Alberta

Job Description:

  1. Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer all mechanical systems or products for projects, ensuring technical accuracy.
  2. Develop designs through sketches and 3D model reviews.
  3. Prepare and coordinate documentation such as equipment specifications and datasheets across various design phases.
  4. Assist with development, review, and approval of mechanical drawings (REVIT and AutoCAD).
  5. Perform and review mechanical calculations for equipment sizing, material selection, etc., using appropriate engineering principles.
  6. Prepare and review mechanical equipment specifications, datasheets, and procurement documents.
  7. Participate in project coordination meetings with team members, clients, and owner’s representatives; conduct constructability reviews; support construction administration activities; and oversee construction activities.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Knowledge of industry standards and applicable codes (ASME, CSA, ANSI, ASHRAE); strong understanding and application of mechanical codes and standards.
  3. Understanding of all project document phases and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  4. Ability to register as a professional engineer in the Yukon Territory.
  5. Ability to collaborate effectively within a project team and communicate clearly.
  6. Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and effective communication skills.
  7. Experience supporting projects from conception through construction.
  8. Field experience is an asset.
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to produce clear technical reports.
