Job summary

Ciena is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and optimize test fixtures and stations for PIC testing and assembly. You will work with production teams to ensure robust, repeatable testing processes in a cleanroom environment.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, are proficient in Creo or SolidWorks, and can apply GD&T, lab measurement techniques, and data-driven test scripting to support efficient production of PIC products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient with CAD software, preferably Creo or SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with lab measurement techniques and test equipment.
• Ability to create test scripts for data collection and analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.

Nice to haves:

• Thermal simulation experience, preferably with Ansys considered an asset
• Cleanroom lab experience is an asset
• Experience in the design of plastic components (injection molding) and metal components (sheet metal, machined, die cast)

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position is $62,600 – $100,000 Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available. Non‑Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
