Job summary

BEUMER Group in Calgary is offering a four-month internship for a Mechanical Engineering student. You will support the Project Engineering & Integration teams on mineral and mining projects, gaining hands-on experience with mechanical design, engineering analysis, and project execution.

You'll work with experienced engineers, create AutoCAD drawings and 3D models, learn fabrication support, and contribute to technical documentation while developing practical industry skills in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiar with basic engineering principles and CAD tools.
  • Ability to read drawings and create sketches.
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Engineering team in solving mechanical design challenges.
  • Assist with daily engineering tasks and gain hands-on experience.
  • Participate in designing and developing mechanical components.
  • Create AutoCAD drawings and 3D models.
  • Prepare engineering documentation including drawings and specs.
  • Collaborate with project management and procurement to support delivery.
  • Provide basic fabrication/technical support to vendors.

Job Description

As an Intern, Mechanical Engineering, you will join our Calgary-based Project Engineering & Integration teams, contributing to Mineral and Mining projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience in mechanical design, engineering analysis, and project execution. This role is designed to bridge academic theory with practical application, giving you exposure to industrial equipment design, and real-world problem-solving. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and project teams to support the development of innovative, efficient, and reliable mechanical solutions.

  • Term length: 4 months
  • Start date: January 2027
  • Location: Calgary, AB
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Engineering team in solving mechanical design and engineering challenges.
  • Assist with daily engineering tasks as required, gaining real-world experience across different areas of mechanical engineering.
  • Participate in the design and development of mechanical components.
  • Create and develop AutoCAD drawings and 3D models.
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering documentation, including drawings, layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management and procurement, to support project delivery.
  • Provide fabrication/technical support to vendors for basic equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews and team meetings, contributing ideas and learning industry best practices
  • Other administrative or engineering duties assigned as necessary by senior engineering staff.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor or similar.
  • Ability to read drawings and to create sketches.
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and ability to quickly absorb new concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, positive attitude and a strong team player.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada at time of application.
