Reporting to the Energy & Infrastructure General Supervisor – Projects, you will collaborate with other departments of the mine. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
- Participate in the maintenance and optimization of surface infrastructure systems, including (but not limited to): fuel distribution, fire suppression, heat recovery, compressed air, water treatment, HVAC, etc.
- Develop project business cases based on key financial metrics and areas of strategic importance for Meliadine, and lead projects that will unlock additional value for the site.
- Determine action steps and milestones required to implement specific business initiatives; adjust activities or timelines as circumstances warrant.
- Manage specialized contractors performing mandatory inspections and certifications on surface equipment and systems, including (but not limited to): overhead cranes, fire suppression, elevators, boilers, pressurized vessels and air tanks, compressors, refinery furnaces, and incinerators.
- Evaluate reports from inspections done by specialized contractors and develop action plans to ensure surface equipment and systems are in good working order and compliant with codes and regulations.
- Identify opportunities for improvements and provide recommendations to the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in the mining industry or in an industrial setting.
- Member of a professional association (P. Eng. designation is considered an asset).
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites.
- Strong communication skills in English (oral and written). Candidates must pass the SPEEXX English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
- 7 days of work, followed by 7 days for transportation and rest, then two weeks from home and/or an AEM office (e.g., Mirabel).
- Flights depart from communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel, or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
