Job summary

House of Commons Administration is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Digital Services and Real Property division. This on-site role supports major building rehabilitation, infrastructure renewal and campus development across the House of Commons, reviewing designs, validating requirements and advising on mechanical systems to meet codes and performance targets.

You will collaborate with project teams, consultants and operations staff to ensure reliable, sustainable facilities, with a focus

Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario preferred or eligible within 12 months.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience with institutional or major capital projects.
  • Experience reviewing designs, specs and consultant work.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building automation.
  • Understanding of codes, standards and lifecycle asset management.

Responsibilities

  • Review consultant designs and technical deliverables.
  • Develop and validate project requirements and owner needs.
  • Evaluate mechanical systems for operation and performance.
  • Provide professional advice on building systems and infrastructure.
  • Support planning, design, construction and commissioning.
  • Identify risks and propose practical solutions.
