Qualifications

Currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Analysis who specializes in Mechanical Design Analysis, providing technical and operational leadership, having superior client relations skills and a proven ability to deliver major assignments.

Your Role Within The Team

As a member of the C3/C4 fuel handling team, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Work with a team to complete the stress analysis of the fuelling machine and related equipment.
  • Engineering calculations to support design nuclear pressure boundary components.
  • Preparation of formal technical reports.
  • Review of design documents, calculations, and analysis reports.
  • Execute engineering activities within budget and schedule.
  • Provide accurate reporting of engineering work to technical and project managers.
  • Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering related matters.
  • Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/CANDU Energy Quality Assurance programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulation requirements.
  • Coordinate and interface with client, suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines or department to execute assigned engineering work.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a university of recognized standing.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • At least 5-10 years of related work experience in the field of design and analysis of complex mechanical systems or equipment (knowledge of CANDU nuclear systems would be an asset).
  • Experience performing stress analysis on fuelling machines a strong asset.
  • Experience in the interpretation of GD&T is preferred.
  • Experience in classical stress calculation.
  • Experience in finite element analysis using ANSYS/LS-DYNA/ABAQUS (ANSYS APDL an asset).
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with ASME Section III, VIII Div 2 pressure boundary design and CSA N285.0.
  • Knowledge of programming skills in MATLAB/VBA/Python is an asset.
  • Drive for continuous learning by own initiative.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
