We are seeking a highly motivated, technically competent Mechanical Engineer within Atlantic Canada to join our team as we grow our business and enhance our service offerings.

You will have the opportunity to work on some of Atlantic Canada’s largest projects and contribute to challenging projects outside the region if desired.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

1. Prepare drawings, specifications, and reports for projects.
2. Design mechanical building systems: HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, control systems, and specialized systems.
3. Create project details and building sections for interference coordination.
4. Perform calculations for ductwork, gas, HVAC, piping, and drainage, and incorporate them into drawings.
5. Size equipment, prepare schedules, and coordinate with team members to ensure correct design.
6. Respond to communication regarding project status and report to managers.
7. Create design drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT.
8. Undertake field investigations like building assessments and construction inspections.
9. Conduct technical reviews and calculations to support designs.
10. Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
11. Support clients during tendering and construction phases, including site inspections.

What Your Experience Looks Like

1. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience.
2. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or eligible for immediate registration with Engineers Nova Scotia.
3. Experience in preparing construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
4. Understanding of mechanical systems design, construction, project management, and proposals.
5. Knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE, CSA, and NFPA standards.
6. REVIT/BIM proficiency is a strong asset.
7. Ability to work under deadlines with multiple projects.
8. Excellent communication skills.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
10. Experience with energy modelling, auditing, renewable energy, LEED, Green Globes, or Zero Carbon standards is an asset.
