Job summary

NSG Group in Canada is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to design windshield fabrication equipment and lead capital projects from proposal to implementation. You will create efficient plant layouts, coordinate with vendors and staff, and maintain drawings in AutoCAD/SolidWorks.

Travel about twice yearly and uphold safety and company standards. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in mechanical engineering, strong MS Office and CAD skills, excellent communication, and the ability to multi-task

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 7+ years related experience.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing is an asset.
• Strong computer skills (MS Office, CAD).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, verbal and written.
• Self-motivated and able to multi-task under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Design specialized equipment for windshield fabrication.
• Manage capital projects from proposal to full implementation.
• Create plant layout drawings to maximize efficiency and safety.
• Consult with vendors, staff, and management on purchases, procedures, specs, and project status.
• Maintain/update mechanical and site drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Assist with commissioning of new plant equipment with minimal production disruption.
• Travel approximately twice per year.
• Support plant safety initiatives and continuous improvement.

Job description

Essential Functions:

• Design specialized equipment for windshield fabrication
• Manage capital projects and oversee the projects from the proposal stage all the way to full implementation
• Create plant layout drawings that will maximize efficiency and improve safety of plant work areas
• Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
• Demonstrate effective organizational skills and handling multiple tasks independently with limited supervision.
• Support for all plant safety initiatives.
• Instigate studies and actions to resolve technical problems, reduce waste and improve team performance.
• Assist with mechanical improvements through TPM, P.M., and Capital Expenditure Projects.
• Maintain/update mechanical and site drawings using AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS
• Assist in the commissioning of new plant equipment and to ensure that the introduction into the facility is handled efficiently and with minimal disruption to production
• Some travel may be required; approximately twice per year may be required.
