Job summary

SMART Technologies is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and testing of development projects from concept to production. You will produce documentation, ensure on-schedule execution, and collaborate with hardware teams across the company.

The role requires 7+ years in mechanical product development, expertise with CAD/CAE tools, and PLM platforms. Travel to China/Asia (10%) is expected; office and lab environment are provided.

Qualifications

  • Degree in mechanical engineering (or related field).
  • 7+ years of mechanical product development experience.
  • Experience with mid to high volume mechanical part manufacturing processes and methods (injection moulding, extrusions, die casting, etc.).
  • Experience using CAD design software, CAE simulation tools and product data management tools (i.e., SolidWorks®, PDM).
  • Experience using product lifecycle management tools (i.e., Oracle Agile).
  • Valid passport or no impediment to obtaining one.

  • Support shipping products to ensure they continue to achieve expected customer experience and yield rates.

  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers.
  • Perform any other reasonable activity required by leadership.

Purpose of the Position

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will increase the ability of the Mechanical Engineering group to deliver on the Plan of Record and provide technical leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervision
  • Working in a team environment with senior staff overseeing their work.
  • Collaboration with other hardware engineers on large projects will be typical. Smaller individual projects are also expected.
Additional Details
  • Office and lab environment.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel to China and other Asian countries. 10% travel is expected.
