Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team in Dartmouth, NS, Canada, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer/Drafter to join a dynamic group of engineers and technologists. You will contribute to multiple projects for public and private sector clients, delivering contract drawings and detailed designs from concept to construction.

The role requires knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems, and proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD, with strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.
• Assist in the design of building related mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.
• Review equipment selections, perform preliminary engineering calculations, and develop preliminary designs.
• Produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in REVIT, as well as in AutoCAD.
• Follow production guidelines and project standards.
• Work closely with the Lead Designer and Mechanical Team in recommending the best use of project tools to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues with the project tools.
• Ensure the assurance of quality, consistency, and integrity of the electronic handover of deliverables.
• Assist with periodic construction administration tasks (prepare documentation for site instructions or change requests).
• Incorporate information from site, contractor markups, 3D scans, and existing drawings to produce as-built drawings.
• Performs thorough quality control of construction documents.
• Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team.
• Communicate with other team members and become familiar with Stantec standards to complete assignments and projects in a timely manner as required by the Project Manager or Lead Designer.
• Understand and execute and/or direct work within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
• Comply with Stantec's Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSS&E) program
