The Opportunity:

WSP’s Property & Building M&E Team is seeking a Mechanical Designer, Buildings M&E to join our Mechanical team at our Toronto and Thornhill offices. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Designer will be responsible for designing and drafting mechanical systems using AutoCAD and Revit 3D modeling for various Property & Buildings projects. The role also involves attending client sites to evaluate existing conditions and reviewing construction progress.

Responsibilities
  • Perform calculations and create designs for HVAC, piping, and natural gas systems.
  • Prepare AutoCAD drawings and Revit models.
  • Learn building mechanical engineering standards and codes such as OBC, ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, and CSA.
  • Work independently or as part of a team under supervision.
  • Gain engineering experience and mentorship towards PEO licensure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian university or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering software such as HAP, Trace, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic, detail-oriented, organized, and team-oriented.
