Job summary

ATS Industrial Automation, a global leader in complex automation solutions, seeks a Mechanical Design Manager in Cambridge, ON. You will direct engineering teams, oversee heavy design workloads, and ensure projects meet schedule and budget with strong GD&T and DOE application.

A license in Ontario is an asset, with opportunities to influence safety, quality, and performance across manufacturing and installation stages.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years in automated tooling design and development.
• 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong GD&T and DOE application in design.
• Experience with nuclear tooling design is an asset.
• Ontario P.Eng. license is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assess workload, forecast labor loading, assign staff to projects.
• Oversee drawings and ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
• Provide engineering expertise through manufacturing and installation.
• Coach and supervise staff, conduct performance evaluations.
• Develop KPIs and lead regular team meetings.
• Support training needs and annual budgeting for the department.
• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
