Mechanical Design Manager – Antec Controls
The Team

Antec Controls has a diverse engineering team which includes electrical, software and mechanical disciplines. Our team handles the development of high‑accuracy airflow devices, electronics and firmware for a range of control products. In addition, we design web‑based tools and custom software for our controllers. Our team is building a family of products that are high‑performing, intuitive, and designed with safety as the top priority. We are driven to serve our customers and are dedicated to creating safe spaces for the advancement of a better future.

The Role

As our team continues to grow, we’re seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to lead our talented product development group and oversee our Design Department alongside our Embedded Design Manager. In this role, you will guide a team of 4‑5 mechanical product designers and collaborate closely with our customer‑facing and Operations teams to deliver impactful, high‑quality solutions.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical product designers.
  • Guide the team through all stages of product development projects.
  • Collaborate with customer‑facing team members to define, prioritize, and manage feature requirements.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure smooth transitions of design changes and product releases into production.
  • Improve design and development processes by introducing tools and practices that enhance efficiency.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, design tools, and industry trends.
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment, maintaining flexibility and focus.
  • Prioritize initiatives and align the team’s work with the company’s strategic vision.
  • Deliver high‑quality solutions on time and within budget.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members; conduct performance evaluations and manage compensation.
  • Participate in departmental budget planning and report on key performance metrics.
  • Ensure robust test coverage and mentor the team in design verification and validation practices.
  • Oversee the management and upkeep of testing spaces and equipment.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
The Ideal Candidate For This Position Will Have
  • A College Diploma or University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a design or engineering role.
  • Leadership skills with experience working on a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • A strong customer‑service mindset and commitment to excellence.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Business acumen and experience conducting product cost analyses.
  • Strong critical‑thinking skills, accountability, and a bias toward action informed by data.
  • The ability to identify and resolve root‑cause issues through simple, effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with active listening and clarity at all levels.
  • The ability to:
