Job summary

MDA Space is seeking a Supervisor, Mechanical Design, to lead a section of the engineering department and report to the Manager, Mechanical Design. You will recruit, develop and retain staff, drive staffing plans for Programs, R&D and Business Development, and push for continuous improvement and modern engineering practices.

You will also oversee resources, ensure efficient processes, participate in TOB meetings and support customer inquiries, audits and capital planning while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• Engineering or similar degree required.
• Minimum 5 years experience in engineering/manufacturing, preferably in space.
• Strong leadership, conflict resolution and people management skills.
• Bilingual French and English written and spoken (customer contact outside Quebec).

Responsibilities

• Lead recruitment, development, engagement and retention within the team.
• Develop and maintain workforce with key technical skills for programs.
• Support technology roadmap development and modernization of engineering practices.
• Coordinate TOB meetings and distribute lessons learned.
• Support audits, corrective actions and design for manufacturing culture.
• Oversee department facilities, processes and tools; manage budgets and capital planning.
