Job summary

Sonele in Canada is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the engineering manager and team in mechanical design, drafting, product development, manufacturing, assembly, and documentation.

You will design 3D assemblies in SolidWorks, participate in design reviews, evaluate manufacturability and lead times, and collaborate with service, production, and suppliers to meet customer deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Technologist Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 7 years of applicable work experience.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, schematics and BOMs, including good knowledge of GD&T.
• Ability to troubleshoot and adapt to on-going changes to suit the needs of the team and/or customers.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, etc.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Fluent communication skills in English.

• Establish supply chains and purchasing of various raw materials, components and processes
• Generate 2D mechanical drawings and engineering documents
• Analyze manufacturability, costing and lead times of electro-mechanical systems
• Work together with the Engineering team, cross functional teams (Service, Manufacturing, Production) as well as suppliers to meet customer deliverables
• Develop assembly procedures and other manufacturing documentations as required
• Perform other duties as required

Bonus

• Experience in mechanical designs related to medical devices / products would be an asset
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 would be an asset
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM would be an asset
