Job summary

BPA in Ottawa is seeking a Mechanical Building Engineer to lead design of mechanical building systems with a focus on energy efficiency. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver HVAC and plumbing solutions for institutional, office, commercial, cultural and residential projects.

The role requires a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, 5+ years of experience, and registration with PEO. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, and MS Office is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (specializing in building) or building engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical building systems design.
• Member in good standing of PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and HAP heat loads calculations software.
• Capability to write reports, complete site visits, and design mechanical and plumbing systems with minimum supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative spirit and positive leadership to influence technical decisions and client relationships.
• Eligibility to get a Government of Canada Reliability Status.

Responsibilities

• Technical supervision, coordination, verification and design of various mechanical building systems projects from concept design to completion of construction.
• Work as part of a team to carry out building-related mechanical systems design projects for various sectors (institutional, office, commercial, cultural and residential).
• Connect with clients to understand their needs.
• Survey existing installations.
• Analyze, design and adapt building-related installations.
• Prepare various types of client reports.
• Manage the project and the relationships with the client.
