Job summary

AVL Manufacturing Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Assembler in Hamilton, Ontario. The role focuses on building and assembling heavy industrial components, piping, and enclosures, using heavy equipment and a variety of hand/tools.

The position runs on a Mon-Thu night shift (4:00 PM–2:30 AM) with a $2 per hour shift premium. You will handle material, operate overhead cranes and forklifts, and work with tanks, frames, and power-generation components while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in a heavy industrial equipment environment.
  • Ability to travel within North America with a valid passport and driver's license.
  • Must have own power and hand tools.
  • Ability to work in high paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand tolerances to determine assembly operations.
  • Assist with rigging, hoisting, moving, and aligning subassemblies and components with overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Fit and assemble simple parts to build heavy industrial products and equipment according to drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in installing major components such as tanks, louvers, dampers, large-scale frames, generators, insulation, soundproofing systems, and building panels.
  • Help in inspection, testing, examination, and investigation of parts to ensure quality and detect irregularities.
  • Install/bend mechanical tubing from engineering assembly drawings
  • Inspect, test, examine and investigate parts to ensure quality and detect irregularities.
  • Ensure safe working conditions per Occupational Health and Safety Act and perform visual inspections of equipment.

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Assembler’s primary function is to build and assemble parts, pipe fitting, and enclosures. Handle, move, load, and unload material, mostly heavy metal, by hand or using a variety of material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes in a high trafficking manufacturing environment.

This shift is from Mon- Thurs: 4pm- 2:30am. In addition, This shift timing earns a $2 per hour shift premium

Job Responsibilities:
  • Understand tolerances to determine assembly operations.
  • Assist with rigging, hoisting, moving, and aligning simple subassemblies and components to storage areas or within the worksite using overhead cranes and forklifts using established safety precautions.
  • Fit and assemble simple parts to build heavy industrial products and equipment according to drawings and product specifications.
  • Assist in installing major components such as tanks, louvers, dampers, large‑scale frames, generators, insulation, soundproofing systems, and building panels using hand and power tools.
  • Help and report with inspection, testing, examination, and investigation of parts, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure quality and detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Install/bend mechanical tubing from engineering assembly drawings
  • Inspect, test, examine and investigate parts, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure quality and detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed following the Occupational Health and Safety Act and participate in regular safety talks. Perform a visual inspection of equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and other tools, to ensure they are in safe working condition.
