The District of West Vancouver's Engineering & Transportation Department seeks a permanent, full-time journeyman mechanic to perform automotive and heavy-duty maintenance in the shop or in the field. The successful candidate will troubleshoot, inspect, maintain and repair municipal vehicles, inspect hydraulic systems, weld where needed and keep accurate maintenance records.
Supervision of staff and turf-handling equipment experience are a plus.

The West Vancouver Engineering & Transportation Department is currently seeking a permanent, full-time mechanic to join our highly qualified team. This position will perform duties related to automotive and heavy duty mechanical work at the journeyman level. This involves overhaul, repair and maintenance on all types of Municipal equipment in the shop or in the field. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

The successful candidate will hold Grade 12 Graduation, supplemented by technical courses related to mechanical work, completion of a recognized apprenticeship to the trade and considerable general experience in automotive and heavy-duty mechanical and electrical work will be an asset. Candidates in 4th year apprentice may be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check, driver’s abstract and a copy of their credentials.
