Qualifications

Position: Mechanic

Location: North Augusta, SC

Reports to: Branch Manager

Southway is looking to add an experienced full-time Crane/Truck mechanic to our growing branch. The following are the requirements; you must meet all of them to be considered for this position.

Summary:

Southway Crane and Rigging Inc. is seeking a full-time experienced Crane/Truck Technician Mechanic to support our branch. The mechanic will perform maintenance and repairs on cranes, forklifts, and other equipment, following all State and Federal laws, safety, and environmental policies.


The candidate should be able to perform inspections, diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance on various Crane/Truck equipment, including mobile cranes (all terrain, rough terrain, boom trucks). Experience with electrical and hydraulics in modern crane technology is required.


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 3 years' experience as a mobile crane mechanic/technician, capable of inspecting cranes to diagnose defects
  • Working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, ECOS, LICCON SYSTEMS
  • Ability to read and understand operating manuals, parts manuals, and technical drawings
  • Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation and OEM compliance
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Adheres to all safety requirements for equipment maintenance
  • Maintains reports such as timesheets, work orders, and expense reports
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Possession or ability to acquire a TWIC card
Responsibilities:
  • Supply your own tools; maintain an up-to-date tool inventory
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on cranes, forklifts, and other equipment
  • Document all maintenance and repairs accurately
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to quality
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Pass a drug screen and background check
  • Understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits is a plus
  • Work some evenings and weekends at the shop
  • Communicate safety issues verbally to customers and co-workers
  • Report to supervisor or lead mechanic upon job completion
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Trade school diploma preferred
  • 3-7 years of maintenance and repair experience on hydraulic cranes
  • Valid Texas Department of Public Safety Class C Driver’s License
