Job summary

Canadian Linen & Uniform Service Corp. is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles. You will utilize fleet management software to track shop operations, assist with inventory-driven cost controls, and uphold NSC compliance and safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and a mechanic license. Occasional travel to depot locations may be required, with a strong emphasis on teamwork in a busy shop

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles.
  • Use fleet management software to track shop operations.
  • Assist with cost control through inventory management and third-party invoices.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure NSC and company standards compliance.
  • Document repairs and inspections per guidelines.
  • Perform repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the business.

Job description

THE ROLE

The Fleet Mechanic performs preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain fleet vehicles with focus on Preventative Maintenance programs to meet compliance standards;
  • Utilize fleet management computer programs to track shop operations;
  • Assist with cost control through inventory management and reviewing third party estimates/invoices on external repairs;
  • Responsible for maintenance of the shop quality requirements, cleanliness, and Occupational Health and Safety standards;
  • Regularly inspect vehicles to ensure compliance with company standards as well as National Safety Code (NSC) standards;
  • Conduct vehicle inspections on Class 1-8 vehicles in accordance with Provincial regulations;
  • Document vehicle repairs and inspections according to company guidelines;
  • Conduct all repairs in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Follow all and any Company workplace conduct requirements and policies;
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of role to support the business.

We are looking for individuals who have:

License Requirements/ Certifications:

  • Mechanic License
  • Valid Driver's License

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a Fleet Shop environment preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel to Depot locations may be required.

Education:

  • High School or equivalent

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of NSC standards for commercial vehicles;
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal Regulations for commercial fleets;
  • Familiarity/proficiency with Fleet Management Software;
  • Familiarity/proficiency with Parts Management;
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast pace environment;
  • Maintain a collaborative and team-oriented environment in the shop.

Tools:

  • Must provide own tools suitable for repair of Class 3-8 vehicles;
  • Shop tools will be provided.

Working Environment/Safety Requirements:

  • Generally, work will be performed in a dedicated shop bay however road calls and work in a vehicle yard may be required;
  • Occasional exposure to inclement weather may be required;
