Job summary

Pomerleau is seeking a skilled heavy equipment mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair drilling machines on large construction sites across Canada. You will ensure safety, productivity, and sustainability of drilling operations on projects ranging from mid-size to billion-dollar scales.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, interpreting schematics, parts replacement, and collaboration with site teams.

Qualifications

• CCQ competency certificate for heavy machinery mechanics is required.
• DEP in construction equipment mechanics is required.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Familiarity with Epiroc (Atlas Copco) drills is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on drilling machines.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures.
• Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Replace defective parts and adjust systems as needed.
• Collaborate with operators and the operations manager to optimize equipment performance.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper function and compliance with standards.
• Maintain an inventory of drill spare parts and consumables.
• Produce an inspection certificate after repair and inspection.
• Lubricate and clean equipment; perform routine maintenance tasks.
• Conduct periodic maintenance such as oil changes and tuning.
• Attend training related to new technologies.
