Overview: The successful candidates will be self-motivated, possess strong learning agility, and have a passion for pursuing a meat career. The candidate will contribute to the profitability of the meat department through effectively maintaining consistent merchandising standards, quality products, and exceptional service to our customers. Upon successful completion of this program, candidates will be placed in a Fortinos location as a FT Meat Cutter.

The program duration and components:

  • On-the-job training
  • Training at various Fortinos locations by experienced and qualified trainers
  • Feedback provided on personal progress via assessments
  • Corporate Program. Applicants are selected based on skill, ability, competence, knowledge, availability, and willingness to learn

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive, cut, and prepare rail beef, veal, lamb, and pork ensuring the quality of meat and cut complies with Company standards;
  • Prepare meat on trays according to specifications in preparation for wrapping;
  • Ensure that the safety and sanitation of the department meet Company policies and standards;
  • Serve customers efficiently and friendly, responding to inquiries, requests, and complaints;
  • Travel as required; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Would Possess:

  • Exceptional Customer Service skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • High regard for Health & Safety and process adherence;
  • Cleanliness and hygiene consciousness;
  • Strong initiative and interpersonal skills;
  • Food Safety training is an asset;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Relevant past experience is an asset but not mandatory;
  • Physical ability for manual labor, heavy lifting, working in cold environments, and standing for long periods;
  • Familiarity with and compliance to Company Health and Safety Policies; and
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, nights, evenings, and weekends.
