PositionDescription

We are seeking an experienced and driven M&V Account Executive(s) to join our team and focus on selling our advanced Measurement and Verification (M&V) software and services to Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), DSM implementation peers, Utilities and Energy-as-a-Service providers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of energy efficiency projects, energy management solutions, and the technical and regulatory requirements of M&V including IPMVP, ASHRAE Guideline 14 and LBNL Uniform Methods Project. This is a client-facing role requiring a blend of technical knowledge, business acumen, and sales expertise to drive growth in the M&V software and services sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for motivated technical sales professionals who possess the skills and drive to capitalize on a new commercial product release that builds upon seven years of internal M&V software development and utilization that has supported the company’s own growth and initial M&V contracts. As we seek to commercialize the technology and expertise that Power TakeOff has built in automating M&V, the M&V Account Executive(s) will be supporting the broader energy efficiency ecosystem through software and/or services that lowers energy efficiency project costs and yields rapid project iteration to maximize savings while offering improved accuracy of project results.

Reporting to the President of Power TakeOff and working closely with the company’s internal M&V team and Software Product team, you will lead day-to-day sales operations and outreach for the company’s M&V software and services across your service territory, domestically and internationally. You will benefit from mentorship and strategic guidance from an experienced leadership and technical support team while taking ownership of critical sales initiatives and processes. Key Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development:

  • Identify and prospect new business opportunities with ESCOs, energy consultants, and other industry stakeholders. Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Present, demonstrate, and articulate the value proposition of our M&V software and services to potential clients. Understand client needs and tailor solutions that align with their energy efficiency and verification goals.
  • Develop and present tailored proposals, negotiate pricing and terms, and close sales deals in accordance with company objectives and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts in the company’s Salesforce CRM. Provide regular updates to management on sales progress and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Client Consultation:

  • Provide expert advice to ESCOs on the best M&V strategies, software features, and data analytics to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with energy savings protocols.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, regulatory changes, and market trends related to M&V, energy efficiency, and sustainability to effectively position the company’s offerings.
  • Ensure excellent customer satisfaction through continuous support, training, and troubleshooting to help clients achieve optimal usage of M&V solutions in coordination with the software customer support team.
  • Work closely with product management, technical support, and implementation teams to ensure smooth onboarding and delivery of M&V software and services to clients.
  • Identify trends in feedback from clients to most effectively market the solution and its value propositions and to inform the prioritization of ongoing development initiatives.

Key Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • 4+ years of ESCO experience with established industry network
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical certifications or training in energy efficiency, M&V, or energy management systems is preferred.
  • Direct successful experience closing more than $250k annually selling M&V services, energy management software, or related technologies.

Technical Expertise

  • Knowledgeable of ESCO client contracts and performance guarantees
  • Strong knowledge of M&V principles, energy management, and industry standards (e.g., IPMVP, ASHRAE, or similar).
  • Understanding of ESCO business models, energy efficiency projects, and the role of M&V in achieving measurable energy savings.
  • Engineering background helpful

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced sales environment.

Location and Travel

Power TakeOff is a 100% virtual company with no physical office location. However, many employees are based in two hubs in the areas around Denver, CO and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. Residence in one of these two hubs is desired but not required, and relocation assistance will not be provided for the position.

Estimated 10 to 20% travel is anticipated for this position with overnight stays to attend conferences and sales meetings. Power TakeOff will cover the associated accommodation and travel expenses for any travel that may be required for the role.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary for employees residing in the U.S. is between $100,000 and $125,000 which is targeted to represent no more than 70% of total annual compensation. Power TakeOff maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions. Sales commission is uncapped with targeted commission for this role in 2026 expected to be at least $45,000, or 30% of total compensation, upon achievement of minimum KPIs.
