Job summary

Penelakut Island Learning Centre on Penelakut Island near Chemainus, BC, seeks a Math Teacher for Grades 9-12. The role follows a 4-day week (Mon-Thu, 7:45–4:15) with local salary matching and a generous benefits package after a 3‑month probation.

Water taxi transportation is provided for staff. You will teach Math courses to support students pursuing Dogwood diplomas, with small class sizes and integration of First Nations language and culture.

• Developing lesson plans and targeted instruction for diverse learners.
• Using varied instructional strategies, including inquiry, group discussion, and discovery.
• Evaluating students' academic and social growth; maintaining records and progress reports.
• Identifying student needs and collaborating with staff to address health, attitude and learning issues.
• Integrating technology meaningfully into teaching and learning.
• Maintaining professional competence through in-service education.
• Engages in other school duties as directed.
