Job summary

Providence Health Care is seeking a Staff Nurse at St. Paul’s Hospital Pregnancy, Birthing and Newborn Centre to provide evidence-based maternity care.

The role reports to the Patient Care Manager and includes assessing and planning nursing care, implementing interventions, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to meet patients’ physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs. The position is a Temporary Full-Time role through January 2028, requiring BC RN licensure, maternity

Qualifications

• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, or in Residential Care and Mental Health, current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Two years' recent experience in a maternity setting with a labour and birth component and/or recent completion of a Perinatal Nursing Specialty certificate and/or recent Midwifery certificate. Current neonatal resuscitation certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess, identify, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care required to assist patients in meeting physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs.
• Develop, implement, evaluate and revise the plan of care.
• Incorporate teaching into the care plan and refer to resources as needed.
• Support other nurses and health care professionals by sharing information and demonstrating procedures.
• Review patient status and coordinate care through chart reviews, interviews and collaboration with the care team.
• Provide nursing care according to PHC policies and standards.
