Our client in York Region, ON is actively looking for a Materials Supervisor (Manufacturing) to join their team.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education or equivalent related to Materials Management & Supply Chain
- Excellent planning, interpersonal / leadership, team building, and organizational skills
- Highly adaptable, motivated, analytical / data driven, detail-oriented, and able to work autonomously
- Open-minded and decisive problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (English both written and verbal)
- Ability and desire to problem solve, multi-task with cross-functional teams, & prioritize
- Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively and independently
- Ability to work professionally under pressure
- Years of inventory management experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment with successful inventory reduction & cycle count programs
- Years Warehouse Management System experience (preferably Solidat)
- Fully understands the working relationship between Inventory Control and MRP
- Extensive Supply Chain Experience (raw materials, purchase components, outside processor suppliers)
- Strong Lean Manufacturing and process improvement experience
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably TransM / CMI
- Committed to continuous improvement and learning
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Capable of working with minimal supervision
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to respond to dynamic and changing environments
- Support business requirements evenings and weekends, when required
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Valid G driver's license
Desirable Additional Qualifications (Optional)
- APICS CSCP – Certified Supply Chain Professional or equivalent
- Automotive background
- Experience maintaining ERP bill of materials (BOMs) and product routings
- Knowledge of ISO- and TS / IATF- quality systems
- Forklift / reach truck certification
- AZ driver's license
- Automotive manufacturing experience
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the entire team to meet company goals
- Develop, implement, and manage procedures to ensure high inventory accuracy for raw materials, purchased components, WIP, and finished goods across multiple sites
- Implement strategies to meet and maintain department goals
- Implement and refine the Solidat Warehouse Management System
- Ensure effective JIT inventory management at each location
- Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating the Material Analyst team
- Lead and develop team members while fostering a positive, collaborative work culture
- Promote and communicate lean management techniques
- Attend APQP meetings and provide timely information for program success
- Monitor daily department outcomes such as inventory turns, customer delivery performance, and material-related downtime
- Report on Key Performance Indicators related to department goals
- Ensure safety, quality, and effective performance of Inventory Control and Planning
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and purchasing team to achieve organizational objectives
- Lead efforts in product launches and engineering changes
- Reconcile inventory with outside processors, remotely or on-site
- Conduct inventory cycle counts, physical inventories, and BOM audits
- Ensure corrective actions are effective and prevent recurrence
- Resolve supplier release issues effectively
- Maintain action plans to reduce slow-moving inventory
- Ensure FIFO inventory rotation
- Provide ongoing supplier performance feedback
- Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
