Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

As a key member of the Materials team, this position is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities related to receiving, shipping, planning, and point of use locations. This role is also responsible for the continuous improvement of the department and its team through training and continual learning.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Drives continuous improvement in the supply base in support of business objectives by supervising the materials department.
  • Maintains knowledge of materials and informs the department of new developments as well as ensures all departments affected by any changes are made aware.
  • Ensures the team assists in the development, communication, and deployment of departmental policies, guidelines, and tools to ensure success in all processes.
  • Supervises Material department employees on day-to-day operational practices.
  • Maintains the Material department budget with indirect labour, overtime, materials supplies, communication devices, and travel.
  • Ensures all ISO procedures and work instruction requirements have been fulfilled by the team.
  • Be the constant driver of the reduction of inventory adjustments by monitoring reason codes.
  • Monitors and reduces negatives to zero, monitors line entry schedule and part status prior to and during the build process.
  • Performs Cell audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Promotes continuous improvement within the department through compliance, audits, and lean principles.
  • Promotes safety daily through communications, following all safety processes, procedures, and rules.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Post-Secondary education with a focus on logistics, supply chain, and/or industrial supervision.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment with a focus on supervision.
  • An analytical mind that is solutions-oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work afternoon/evening shift is required for this position.
  • APICS certification considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in a union environment considered an asset.
